"WILD COMBINATIONS, USEFUL EVERYDAY TECHNIQUES AND GENUINELY BRILLIANT, INTERESTING RECIPES" James Ramsden, The Times.

The very first Great British Chefs iPad app features 12 of the most exciting and creative chefs working in Britain today. The chefs, all of whom have been awarded Michelin stars, include Marcus Wareing, Nuno Mendes, Tom Aikens, Frances Atkins, Pascal Aussignac, Daniel Clifford, Simon Hulston, Nathan Outlaw, Shaun Rankin, James Sommerin, Agnar Sverrisson, and Martin Wishart.

Putting 180 recipes in the palm of your hand, the app delivers every course, from canapés to mains and petit fours. Extravagant conversation starters like ‘Stuffed tulips’ and ‘Bubblegum panna cotta’ sit alongside classic combinations such as ‘Scallops with Ibérico ham and parsley foam’, ‘Marinated mackerel with beetroot, hazelnuts and horseradish’ or ‘Oxtail stew with olives’.

Matthew Fort, judge on the Great British Menu, comments:

“Havent you always wanted to have a chef in your kitchen? Thats what this app does. Not quite literally, of course, but it brings together the recipes and advice of some of the finest chefs in the country. Its fantastic if you can whip up dinner any day during the week for friends and family, but we all need inspiration; fresh ideas; new recipes when we want to cook something really special. The Great British Chefs app is where you can find them.”

Pros and cons of Great British Chefs – Recipes HD app for iPhone and iPad

Great British Chefs – Recipes HD app good for

A super, super app. All my favorite chefs in just one click. The recipes are really well presented with beautiful photographs and easy to follow. Fine dining at the touch of a button. Would recommend this app to anyone interested in preparing and cooking really good food. Note it is not really your everyday cookbook but still amazing recipes for keen cooks who like the fine dining experience. Take time with some of the recipes and you will experience Michelin food in the comfort of your own home. Absolutely love it.
Great innovative recipes that are delicious, fresh and easy to make ... Take your time and enjoy!

Some bad moments

As a dyed-in-the-wool Anglophile living in New York, it can get very tedious to hear, "Well sure its great over there, but how do you stand the food?" This app gives me all the ammunition I need to prove that things have progressed a long way from boiled beef on toast. First, I have to say that if its true that you eat with your eyes first, my eyes are positively *feasting* on this gorgeous app! The photography alone is worth the price of admission. The recipes are well-curated and well-written, and Im already making plans for including a few at my next dinner party. Thoughtful touches like shopping lists, built-in timers, and some excellent how-to videos help elevate this above your standard cookbook as well. I love getting a little glimpse into the mindset and philosophy of the chefs included here -- although I hope as they add content, well see some more female chefs in the lineup. Even with that quibble, whats there to start is delightful, and highly recommended.
Would feel better using this app if I had paid for it. The fact that its so well presented means it gets more than five stars.
